AVIDwireless, Robots and BlackBerry's
May 06,
2007 - AVIDwireless Robots and BlackBerry's® what do the three have
in common? If you were at the BlackBerry Alliance Summit in Orlando,
Florida this week you would see what they have in common. AVIDwireless,
built a remote control application which ran on a BlackBerry that could
command a Robot to move forward, backward, and side to side. The Robot
was sent commands from a BlackBerry device transmitted over either a
Cingular, or a T-mobile network, which was intercepted by AVIDwireless'
device called AVIDdirector which was connected to the Robot and sent
the specific command to the Robot.
At this
years show Maribel D. Lopez from Forrester Research, recognized the
next area of growth for the wireless space, and for BlackBerry as the
"Internet of Things". Within the next several years you will
begin to see an integration of machines being able to talk to each other
and to you via wireless communications. It is predicted that for every
1 cell phone in existence today that by 2010 there will be 4 machine
cell phones in existence. AVIDwireless' expertise and background is
based on this type of technology. "We look forward to working with
our cusomers and helping them to understanding how this new technology
can help their organization operate better and smarter as this technology
begins to grow over the next several years." says Rod Montrose
CEO and Founder of AVIDwireless.
